Reading Goals for 2018

Happy New Year, friends! I hope that January is going well for you. I wanted to share my reading plans and goals for 2018 with you.

Simon at Stuck in a Book and Claire at The Captive Reader are hosting A Century of Books. The idea of reading 100 books (one for each year) appeals to me, and I'm looking forward to challenging myself. My century will be 1908 through 2007. It's been fun looking through my books, choosing my selections for this challenge and making lists. There's a tab above dedicated to keeping track of all the books I'm reading for this challenge.

In my travels, I've managed to pick up several of Muriel Spark's books, so what better way to celebrate her 100th birthday this year than to take part in #ReadingMuriel100, hosted by Ali over at heavenali. Last year, I read Momento Mori, and this month I've started at the beginning with Spark's first book, The Comforters. At the top of the page, I've got a tab for this challenge and to put links for all things related to this year of reading Muriel Spark.

Last year,  I bought two editions of War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. My favorite has been the Everyman edition which has three volumes. I read the first volume last year and would like to finish the other two volumes this year. I haven't joined a challenge yet.

It sounds like a lot of reading for 2018, but I'm up for it. Last year was not the greatest for me as far as reading or blogging. What's been happening in this country and the world got me down. I continue to struggle with how much news to consume and how informed I want to be. I got back to reading over the holidays, and books may be my salvation. So, onward with this ambitious plan!

I wish you all the best for 2018 and lots of great reading for the coming year!

What are your reading plans for this year? What have you been reading this week?

This is the story of my life right now. Hope we both mange to figure out a way to be informed without ruining our mental health... sigh. Books are my salvation, too. Happy 2018!
